Refund Policy

Island Veterinary Hospital Refund and Return Policy. This policy outlines the conditions for refunds, returns, and exchanges related to services and products purchased from Island Veterinary Hospital.
1. Veterinary Services
All professional veterinary services (e.g., exams, surgery, diagnostics, hospitalization) are non-refundable once the service has been rendered. Our fees cover the professional time, expertise, and resources utilized in providing care.

  • Deposits/Prepayments: If a deposit or prepayment is required for a surgery or procedure, it may be:

    • Refundable if the procedure is cancelled by the client [48/72] hours or more in advance.

    • Non-refundable if the cancellation is made with less than the required notice, as this time was reserved for your pet.

2. Products and Medications

  • Prescription Medications & Products: Due to federal and state law, and for the safety of all our patients, we cannot accept returns or issue refunds for prescription medications once they have left the premises.

    • Exception: If an error was made by the hospital in dispensing the medication, we will correct the error, which may include a replacement or refund for the incorrect item.

  • Non-Prescription Products (e.g., collars, toys, supplements): Unopened and unused non-prescription products may be returned for a refund or exchange within 7 days of purchase, provided you have the original receipt and the item is in saleable condition.

  • Pet Food (Diet Guarantee): Many prescription and non-prescription pet food manufacturers offer a palatability guarantee. If your pet refuses to eat the food, you may be eligible for a refund or credit on the remaining portion, subject to the manufacturer's specific guarantee policies. Please inform the manufacturer  to process the return.   

3. How Refunds are Issued

  • Refunds will be processed back to the original method of payment (credit card, debit card, or cash).

  • For payments made by cash, a refund check may be issued for amounts over $25.00.

  • Please 10 business days for the refund to be processed and appear in your account.
